Life in PUSD

The PUSD neighborhoods feature a broad variety of entertainment, parks & hiking trails, and golf courses.  If you enjoy the outdoors, the Poway area has several places to meet your needs, including the world-famous Potato Chip Rock, listed as one of the top things to do before you die!  If you’re a golfer, there are many courses to choose from, and offering beautiful landscaping for several of the housing developments in the area.  Or, if you just like to sit back and enjoy a movie, the new Angelika Film Center offers a luxury experience, with craft beers and café-quality foods.  Or, if you prefer a more down-to-earth form of entertainment, the Poway Fun Bowl provides a fun afternoon to bowlers and pool players from all over San Diego County.

In addition, the list of annual events for families and seniors will keep you busy!  Consider some of the highlights including the Poway Days Parade, the Summer Concert Series, RB Alive, the Poway Rodeo,  and Christmas in the Park to name a few.

The Poway Unified School District is located in northern San Diego County, California.  PUSD operates 25 elementary schools (K-5), one elementary & middle school combination (TK-8th), six middle schools (6-8), one continuation high school, five comprehensive high schools (9-12), and one adult school.  Twenty-six schools are located in the city of San Diego; twelve schools in the city of Poway.  The District serves approximately 35,500 students and is the third largest school district in the county.

Cultural Events

Got kids?  Be sure to take them for a ride on the Poway Railroad (beware of “train robbers”) or tour the San Diego Doll and Toy Museum, where the admission is only $2 (yes, you read that right!), and the displays will bring out the child in each of us.  Or if you prefer music & theatre then you’re in for a treat.  Both the RB Chorale and Poway Center for the Performing Arts attract guests from all over San Diego county.  Finally, all of the PUSD communities offer a newly renovated library where you can find peace & quiet to read, study or knock-out a school project.

Suffice it to say the PUSD communities have something to offer regardless of your religious preferences.  See a sample of the PUSD Worship locations for more details.
